Oxford Ramallah Friendship
Association Charity Launch
ORFA has been active in
Oxford and Ramallah for over ten years.
We are delighted to announce that we
have had our application for charitable status approved!
Please come and help us celebrate on:
Saturday 1st March
4-6pm
at the Old Fire Station
40 George Street
Oxford
OX1 2AQ
Please come and join us for presentations
about our work, short speeches, and cake and refreshments. We will also be
fundraising with a raffle etc. for the planned women’s visit from Al Amari
refugee camp to Oxford in June 2014.
Charity no: 1155620
If you cannot come and want to donate, please send
a cheque to ORFA, c/o 80 Fairacres Road, Oxford OX4 1TG, and include your name
and address and a sentence saying you wish this donation to be gift-aided. We
will soon have the means to do this on the website.
Earlier in the day some of us shall do some leafleting
of one of the local Sainsburys http://www.palestinecampaign.org/events/sainsburys-stop-supporting-settlement-trade-national-day-action/
8 April: Mahmoud Hawari, archaeologist, will speak
about Jerusalem.
7.30pm Oxford Town Hall, all welcome.
Boycott actions: Boycott actions and leafleting continue to be
presently the most effective tactic. We are trying to be targeted in our
actions and nationally have concentrated on Veolia, G4S, and Sodastream. We
have done our part here where there is a local connection (and must keep our
eyes on any developing local connections of G4S and Veolia).
Tesco on the
Cowley road continues to sell settlement goods such as dates and we have
leafleted there regularly. There is a campaign relating to Sainburies. “Thanks to campaigners across the UK, the Sainsbury’s
Campaign started with a bang in 2013. We now need to build on that success and
expand the campaign even further in 2014. A key focus for action will involve
building towards Sainsbury’s own AGM in July. We urge those groups organising
actions around a local Sainsbury’s branch and also national organisations that
endorse our campaign statement, to get involved in the planning and
mobilisation for the Sainsbury’s AGM.”
Let us all take part in planning this carefully.
We shall have a monthly action on BDS on the first Saturday of every
month. On the first of March our local focus will probably be on Sainsburys.
Please inform us of Israeli and especially settlement goods that you notice on
sale in Oxford.
Every Saturday 11.30-1.30pm: OXFORD PSC STALL in
Cornmarket by St Michael at Northgate church. The OPSC Saturday street stall
on Cornmarket Street is one of the main ways we use for raising the issue of
Palestine with the public at large. It is an important activ

- ity for offering information leaflets to the public, inviting them to join PSC or leave their email for Oxford PSC updates. Generally we are there 11:30 to 13:30. Always a minimum of two people on shift. Please consider volunteering for a shift: it’s an opportunity to meet other PSC members, those wanting information and occasionally those wishing to challenge our views, even volunteering for one shift a year would help. Please email Ali at OPSCstall@gmail.com if you're able to help.
If you are not already a member of PSC join
us now!
