April events

OXFORD PALESTINE SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN ~ AGM 13 MAY 2014 – please see   attachment for more details.

I am pleased to invite you to the Annual General Meeting of Oxford PSC at 7.30pm on Tuesday      13 May 2014 at the Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford OX1 1BX. All supporters are welcome to attend but only PSC members may submit motions, vote on resolutions or stand for office. Membership forms will be available at the meeting for those who are not already members but who wish to join and fully participate in the meeting.

A key focus of the meeting will be development of a future strategy so please bring your ideas along to the meeting.

If you would like to submit a motion to the meeting please email it to us at oxfordpsc@yahoo.com  by Tuesday 29 April. Motions will be circulated to members in advance of the meeting or posted on our website.

Many of you will remember the Palestinian friend of Gwithians from the South Hebron Hills who visited and spoke to us.

He was very clear that one thing we could do to support was to ask the British Government to give aid to Palestinians in Area C.

HERE IS YOUR CHANCE to DO THAT

Upcoming Events: Local

Oxford Ramallah Friendship Association

Next Meeting: 15th April 2014 - 7.30-9.15

Oxford Town Hall

Women’s Visit: 13th – 23rd June 2014. The women from the Al Amari camp will be very active during their stay in Oxford. The more help and involvement we have the better. Details to be announced.

There will be a protest/vigil on Thursday 17th on Palestinian Prisoners' Day, from 5.30pm-6.30pm in the same place as the Saturday stall - along Cornmarket Street by St Michael at Northgate Church.

Come for part or for all. There will be G4S petitions for people to sign, leaflets to give out and a few posters to hold. There will also be masking tape in case anyone would like to do a little visual stunt and cover their mouths with it temporarily (cheaper and and more self-explanatory I hope than handcuffs or blindfolds...) Please send around your networks and invite people to come. If you have a portable white or black board and whiteboard pens/chalk please let me know so that people can write a message on the board, messages can then be photographed for a visual petition. Bring anything else you think may be useful!

Saturday street stall:

    •

Every Saturday 11.30-1.30pm: OXFORD PSC STALL in Cornmarket by St Michael at Northgate church. The OPSC Saturday street stall on Cornmarket Street is one of the main ways we use for raising the issue of Palestine with the public at large. It is an important activity

    •
for offering information leaflets to the public, inviting them to join PSC or leave their email for Oxford PSC updates. Generally we are there 11:30 to 13:30. Always a minimum of two people on shift. Please consider volunteering for a shift: it’s an opportunity to meet other PSC members, those wanting information and occasionally those wishing to challenge our views, even volunteering for one shift a year would help. Please email Ali at OPSCstall@gmail.com if you're able to help.

Event at Blackwells bookshop: OXFORD Ilan Pappe

The Idea of Israel

Friday, April 25th at 19:00 - 20:00

The Idea of Israel is a powerful and urgent intervention in the war of ideas concerning the past, and the future, of the Palestinian–Israeli conflict. Join us as Ilan will be discussing the book and signing copies.
