Oxford Palestine Solidarity Campaign May/June events

Being constructive in the West Bank - a talk - St Frideswide's Church, Botley Road, Oxford. 10.30am Sunday 5th June.
Hello friends and neighbours!
In April I went to re-build a house in the West Bank in a village outside Bethlehem. Some of you have already heard a little (or somewhat more than that!) about what we were up to and why we were doing it. Others of you won't have heard anything. It was incredibly moving & rewarding to see a house rise up from the rubble. It was also challenging to witness life behind the separation wall and how the lives of Palestinian families are being disrupted by house demolitions, restriction of movement and settlement building. However, I was also inspired daily by gracious & hope-filled men and women who, in spite of very painful and difficult circumstances, are not victims to their current circumstances but vibrant champions of life within the West Bank.
I could write a lot more! But I won't. This doesn't mean I don't want to tell you more though. I'm going to be speaking at church in June during the morning service. So if you'd like to hear more about why we went and what we encountered, please come along. It is a family service so children of all ages will be most welcome.
St Frideswide's Church, Botley Road, Oxford. 10.30am Sunday 5th June.
Other opportunities:
Also I'm trying to see if there are opportunities for me to speak in other venues in Oxford and elsewhere. Maybe you have an idea of a good place for me to speak? Or in a more informal way, even get a few friends together and we could chat over dinner or a coffee.
If talking doesn't appeal then you can get a flavour of the building project from reflections written on the Amos Trust website (the organisation we went with):

Hope to see you soon,
Tilly

Oxford PSC Branch Meeting : Tuesday 14th June : 7.30 Oxford Town Hall, St Aldates. As well as future planning we will be discussing latest developments in Palestine, in the light of the “Arab Spring”. Our good friend Abdel Takriti, of Oxford University Arab Cultural Society, founder of Israel Apartheid week both in Canada and Oxford, co-worker with Karma on enhancing Palestinian democracy, and recently returned from Egypt, will lead the discussion.

Saturday street stall: The OPSC Saturday street stall on Cornmarket street is one of the main ways we use for raising the issue of Palestine with the public at large. It is an important activity for offering information leaflets to the public, inviting them to join PSC or leave their email for Oxford PSC updates. Generally we are there 11:30 to 13:30. Always a minimum of two people on shift. Please consider volunteering for a shift: its an opportunity to meet other PSC members, those wanting information and occasionally those wishing to challenge our views, even volunteering for one shift a year would help. Please email ali at OPSCstall@gmail.com if you're able to help.

PS ... If you can only do an hour or so, then that’s good too, email us for information and turn up on the day. Thank you to all who volunteered for vacant slots

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

Ali

Planned boycott action on June 11th, with Reading PSC at Magnolia and Tesco.
